Our Team

Melissa Murray:

If the title of "The Boss" hadn’t been taken by Mr. Springsteen, Melissa would have it. She’d also have "Chief Herder of Cats", "Staff Wrangler" and "Chocolate Quality Control Engineer". Melissa fashioned Mosaix Group from her globe-trotting, client-pleasing, venue-taming experiences in the past couple decades. Her strength is in her ability to string mosquito netting with one hand while fending off approaching iguanas (hence our colorful mascot), or any other situation resembling the impossible. She is equally at home with steering the CEO of GE to his stadium seat, sweet-talking Donald Trump into submission, and treading delicately with a nervous client. Needless to say, her track record is simultaneously an inspiration and a warning to her intrepid staff. She bravely submits to the roles of Mom to three rambunctious children and Wife to one outstanding husband (see below). Several times each week she gives back to her community (local and global) by pouring efforts into the local food banks, YM/YWCA, kids’ swim team, the Chamber of Commerce and other local endeavors.

Sunny Carr:

Just because she has all the credentials to plan any event you might throw at her, doesn’t mean she easily loses her Sunny disposition. Sunny’s name is indicative of her attitude along with what she makes happen for every single client. Firecracker is her middle name, and if you’re not satisfied, you get to say so, and she listens and then moves mountains! Sunny is especially skilled at shaping reality to suit a client’s desire (moving heaven and earth with some kind of lever only Descartes could imagine). She has impeccable relationships with all area hotels, and can make the impossible happen – indeed, a specialty of the whole Mosaix team.

Blair Mertens:

Blair is Mosaix’s administrative assistant, aka Everyone’s Girl Friday. No, she doesn’t do coffee (think 9 to 5, the movie), but she is heavily involved in marshalling and minding the office resources so that INFORMATION AND THINGS CAN BE FOUND and it’s not a free-for-all resembling everyone’s garage. She provides the structure behind the production, the IT framework supporting each event, the warehouse organization to make sure the team has what it needs when it needs it. Home-grown like beefsteak tomatoes, Blair made an attempt at white collar life in Greensboro before the Asheville rubber band effect took place. She is glad to be back. When not cracking the whip at Mosaix Group, she indulges her escape fantasies as a virtual roadie with the Boston Red Sox and the Washington Redskins –while her own feet are firmly planted at home plate.

Christine Maloney:

No member of the Mosaix team is afraid to get their hands dirty, but Christine might as well be called "The Gardener". She is as hands-on as they come and has the extensive experience to make every event blossom. Once a music major, she has yet to grace us with a concert, but the artistry is evident in her ability to make clients feel welcome, listened-to and cared-for in every respect. The result is a win-win-win for client, staff and event. Her specialty is corporate functions, and we all know the level of detail and diplomacy required in those situations! Lest we take over all her waking hours, we’re mindful of the fact that she does like to devote time to a loving husband and renegade young son, and occasionally manages to squeeze in what some call "social time". And when you get the chance, ask her about her stint in a rock ‘n roll band. We also hear she has first-hand accounts of singing waitresses on the Riverboat in Richmond…

Karen Brown:

Every company needs one, every company both hates and relies on them, and every company loves to make fun of them – yes, you guessed it – THE ACCOUNTANT! Karen is a one-woman bulwark against fiscal frivolity, as finances elude all the other players in this group. Unassuming in her manner, she slithers effortlessly among the numbers, seeming not to mind the controlled chaos around her, unruffled by stupid questions, until she STRIKES at inconsistency and holds the staff to task for breaking their promise (written in blood) to label receipts and stick to the purchase order codes. Fortunately, she knows how to herd cats and doesn’t hold grudges, or everyone’s name would be mud. She is bolstered by two strong sons whose ball games are a welcome relief, and she regularly contrives to escape the confines of numerical precision by trusting her girlfriends to take her to the beach (and then…??)

Jim Murray:

Known variously as "Jim", "Mr. Mom", "Honey" and "Dad", Jim is Melissa’s mega-husband and Mosaix’s go-to guy for all things demanding, sticky, and having due dates. He is especially skilled at getting blood from a stone, and being willing to ask the embarrassing questions when others wimp out. He navigates the HMS Mosaix with the finesse of Captain Bligh, but makes up for it with bribes of chocolate, paychecks and balanced accounts. Do not let his accommodating demeanor deceive you – he is as fierce with water cooler replacement as he is with managing event load-in from the demanding director’s chair. He is also uncompromisingly, relentlessly cheerful when it comes to holding IT feet to the fire and making the business work.

The Blond Bombshell:

There is an obviously licentious female who weaves her way in and out of the office at will, wreaking havoc on the hearts of those around her like a siren wooing sailors to the rocks. Irresponsible in her relationships, irreverent in her social demeanor and irreconcilably fuzzy in her logic, the Blonde Bombshell works her magic unfettered by the usual constraints governing social behavior. She continually captivates and breaks hearts, then does it all over again. Meet ZURI, our gorgeous goldendoodle puppy, flaxen locks and brown eyes captivating even the best behaved at the office!

Ellen Green:

Ellen is anything but green in this wild corporate event management industry! We’d have to single-space her credits to fit them all in, so let’s just say that an art history major managed to assist in the organization of a Democratic National Convention; handle a few operating systems for Coca Cola, and elbow her disarmingly petite self into the management of numerous corporate events including 2 Super Bowls in Atlanta, the 1996 Centennial Olympics in Atlanta, and the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. And now the word processor goes off the page… Mosaix Group scooped her up when she discovered Asheville after 22 years in Atlanta (and around the world), and obviously has a firecracker by the tail. Good thing she can be bribed with a camera and a great glass of Merlot, or they would wear out their running shoes to keep up with her!
